Bulletin

The WATEA Annual Dinner

was held on November 11, 2008

While the weather dampened the roads it did not dampen the spirits of those who attended our annual dinner meeting!

First WATEA sends a big thank you to the banquet staff, chef and banquet coordinator (Chloe) at the Best Western Midway Motor Lodge for a great dinner and evening.

WATEA would like to thank our speakers for their phenomenal presentations!

Ellen Voie made it clear that women have a strong future in the trucking industry. Her knowledge and background enables her to clarify the place for women in the trucking industry. If you would like to know more about Ellen's background please read her BIO.

If you were not there you really missed out! Sally Cutler explained the crucial timing of industry coming together with educators to create career pathways, the importance of WATEA and the work we are doing to further this objective, how the DWD is reaching out to the transportation industry to assist in clarifying employment goals/needs and get working towards our common direction. She handed out 'quarters for questions'. Yes, YOU could have gotten paid for getting answers to your questions! As she put on her sunglasses, she challenged us all to look at the future with a changed perspective and renewed outlook. We can make a difference!

WATEA also extends a warm thank you to all who attended despite the weather. We welcome our newest members and look forward to your participation in our organization.

With all the votes tallied, our current board will continue to work toward our common goals. Through WATEA, the transportation industry has a foothold in the door with educators and workforce development leaders.

If you have not yet joined or renewed your membership with WATEA, please consider it. We are on the verge of making real headway toward bringing the transportation industry and educators together with the current and future workforce in mind.

If you are in the transportation industry or a support industry for transportation, please strongly consider joining us in our efforts. Download a membership form today and mail it in to become pro-active in the future of the transportation industry.

You may also email our Project Coordinator for more information.
