Minutes

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:50 am, by Jerry Brickner.
  2. The minutes of May 20, 2010 were approved. Motioned by Marlowe, seconded by Malone.
  3. Treasurer Bob Marlowe reviewed Treasurer’s Report to include:
    1. Financials through May 2010
    2. Motion was made to allow the WATEA savings account to be designated for funds directed at Wheels to Work and to allow Becky the ability to transfer funds between the checking and savings account.  Motioned by Olson, seconded by Marlowe.

Motion was made to approve Treasurer Report.  Moved by Molitor and seconded by Olson.

  1. There was discussion about WATEA’s insurance.  Compass is having a difficult time getting our organization insured.  Between the Crew Chief Cart and the Wheels to Work program insurance companies do not want to take a chance. John Geurink of Compass is continuing to work on this and will be in contact with us soon.
  2. Per Mike Molitor the official name of our tire changing unit will be called “Crew Chief Challenge Cart”.   Mike presented the binder he worked on that describes the cart and its rules and regulations.  Next step is to create a video to demonstrate the procedure of setting up and taking down the Cart, Mike Garvin volunteered to donate a TV/DVD player that will be kept with the Cart.   The Wausau East School could help produce this video.
  3. There was discussion regarding marketing on the Crew Chief Challenge Cart. It needs to be determined how much it costs to have the logos made and attached to the cart before we can determine the amount each section will be sold at.  Should the logos be permanent or removable and if removable how do we keep those who rent it from removing their logos?  Or do we only have the logos on for certain events (such as the career fairs at NTC, Portage Co. Eau Claire, and CAFÉ)?  All to be determined.  For sure the WATEA logo will go inside the cart and be permanent.  Mike Molitor will look into prices for a sleeve that can be put over the door for marketing.
  4. Golf Outing current Platinum sponsors are Brickner Family Auto Group, Compass Insurance, Auto Select, Kocourek Automotive Group, Olson Tire & Auto, Halron Lubricants, Motor Service & Supply, Log Cabin Restaurant, MEC Party Rentals, Wickersham Jewelers, CARQUEST, Baker Tilly & Associates, and Moore Oil.  We need to get golf teams to register.  Kent Olson will talk to Hess & Dexter to see if WATEA gives them a golf team (or sponsorship) if they will barter for their bill.  Also if all Board Members can try to get prizes to use as give-a-ways in the raffles and goody bag stuffers (approximately 150).  We also need volunteers to help out during the day at the event.  Cindy from Brickners can work a hole event, we will need about 15-20 people to help during the day.  Also we will need a group that will assist Friday night to help set up.
  5. Wheels to Work formal motion to adopt the Wheels to Work program as presented.  The WETAP grant is due August 6, 2010 which we will be working on soon.  Motion by Brickner, seconded by Marlowe.
  6. Next meeting scheduled for Thursday July 15th to start at 7:30-9:00 AM at the Longfellow Building in the PDC room.
  7. The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 am.
